‘Mad Men’ Star Going ‘Greek’

Get ready to see a batch of fresh faces on upcoming episodes of ‘Greek.’ With stars like Lea Thompson as Cappie’s mom, the mid-season premiere on Jan. 25 will kick off an exciting stretch of episodes for the ABC Family series.

News first dropped in late late November that Lea Thompson of ‘Back to the Future’ and ‘Caroline in the City’ fame was tapped to play Cappie’s (Scott Michael Foster) hippie mom, April. Jim Abele of ‘24‘ fame is also on hand to play his non-conformist dad Tobias.

“She [Lea Thompson] is a really cool, lovely woman,” star Spencer Grammer told us during a set visit. “It’s been really wonderful to have her do the show. She’s very inspiring to work with.”

So was Thompson a fan of the show before taking on the role? Grammer speculated that Thompson’s two teen-aged daughters may have played a hand in her involvement with the show. “I think her kids watch it,” she said.

In other ‘Greek’ casting news, Sam Page — probably best known to TV fans as Joan’s dastardly husband Greg Harris on ‘Mad Men’ – will have a recurring role as Joel, a lawyer and campaign manager.

“He’s our McDreamy Lawyer,” gushed star Dilshad Vadsaria, who plays the reformed ZBZ schemer Rebecca. The two characters actually have a family connection: “His character worked for my father.”

Although this won’t turn into anything romantic between the two, other characters will possibly get some action on the upcoming episodes, when Casey begins to work with Joel because of her political ambitions.

Jacob Zachar (Casey’s younger brother Rusty) also dropped hints about his love life. “You’re going to see Rusty involved in his science project. They’re going to bring in a guest star as his assistant.” That guest star? Martha MacIsaac, who played Becca in ‘Superbad.’ She was brought on for an episode as Rusty’s admirer Dana.

Zachar teased, “You’re going to see a new friendship slash relationship develop between Rusty and her [Dana].”
